I was in Epping today doing some photographs for some new posts on the Central Line.
The eastern end of the Central Line with disused tracks beyond the platforms.
The last time I was here was on 30 Sept 1994, the last day Epping had a through station rather than a terminus as it is now.
The end of the line at Epping, with Bower Hill bridge and the disused tracks pointing towards Ongar.
I didnt even set foot in the station on that day even though I came through it four times. This was the last day of services to Ongar. The three coach tube train was so packed it wasnt worth getting off!
Bower Hill bridge. Here the tracks split. Left to the siding and right for Ongar. The latter’s track is severed further along.
In September 2014 the connection to the Ongar metals were restored for a weekend. This was done to enable the former shuttle train to run there once again on the 20th anniversary of the line’s closure.)
