I attended the final bit of the 2017 OVO Energy Women’s Tour in Central London. I wasn’t that well but decided a trip out would be good for me – although had a bad relapse when I got home. This explains why the blog has been struggling along recently … Anyhow I was sufficiently well later to compile this quick pictorial report covering the race on Sunday 11 June.
I walked along the course from Trafalgar Square to Piccadilly Circus. Here’s some of my favourite shots of the race.
I’m no racing expert so had no idea who the competitors were other than finding out from social media!

I have some pictures of the winner @KNiewiadoma later!
This was the 50km peloton, involving 12 laps around the centre of London, the concluding section of the tour.
Rounding the corner at the bottom of Trafalgar Square.
Race official’s car – sponsored by Adnams of Southwold, one of the country’s few independent brewers.
Surprised to see Devon & Cornwall police’s motorbike riders were the marshals leading the race.

Turning the corner into Regent Street St James’s.
The start/finish line at the top of Regent Street St James’s.
This was the scene at the start of an earlier race with London Mayor Sadiq Khan cheering the cyclists on:

A well earned drink! This is cyclist number 33.
