Here’s another compilation of tweets featuring kids, friends and their parents with Trafalgar Square’s world famous pigeons.

The pigeons were a classic sight for decades. Its said they had been here long before the square was built. By the end of the 20th Century the powers that be decided feeding the birds was rather unhealthy. Pigeons supposedly carried a multitude of diseases and the then Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, claimed the birds were ‘rats with wings.’

This great article by Pigeons as Pets shows pigeons in a very different light and shows we shouldn’t be too worried about them.

Although handing out bird seed was fun for us kids, the square is a much cleaner place. Dont forget there’s a risk of a £500 fine for anyone caught feeding pigeons!
