A visit to Zero

I made a visit to Greenwich today, the first for six years since the GDIF festival 2011. So much’s changed, the Cutty Sark in her new guise, different pier buildings, and the Royal Naval College now a full public venue. I took many pictures as usual, however I decided tonight’s post would focus on that classic tourist spot – the Royal Observatory, sited at zero/0 in terms of longitude.

Here are some pictures from today taken with my Nikon D300 and Tokina 12-14. Enjoy 🙂

The classic ascent to the Royal Observatory, with the views over Greenwich Park to the Naval College/Canary Wharf.

Tourists admiring the Shepherd Gate Clock outside the Royal Observatory.

The forecourt outside the Royal Observatory. Central London can just be seen thro the railings, as well as Canary Wharf & O2.

Greenwich’s selfie hotspot! No wonder its a world heritage site! The 4 girls said they were from Holland, Oz & Spain.
